Train Rides
Train rides are a unique way to explore the beautiful scenery of Austin, while soaking in the rich and storied history of the Texas railroad. Austin Steam Train Association is an organization dedicated to keeping old-fashioned trains upkept and in operation, for visitors to enjoy. Their current engine is an Alco Diesel 442: a six-axle road-switcher built by the American Locomotive Company in 1960. This type of train is nicknamed “alligator”, due to its long and low nose.
Circuit of America
This racing event is world-class, drawing visitors to Austin from across the globe. Circuit of America has hosted the Formula 1 event since 2002, and offers shuttle tours to experience the track up close and personal Shuttle tours cover the entire facility, and last for around an hour and a half.

K1 Speed
If you’re looking for some action that puts you behind the wheel, this is the place for you. K1 is a state-of-the-art facility for indoor cart racing, located in the northern part of the city. The facility features European-style 20hp electric carts with speeds of up to 45 mph, as well as a museum-worthy collection of racing memorabilia and artwork.

A staple of an age gone by, this cinema experience is one you won’t want to miss. Austin is home to the only surviving drive-in theater in the state, created by one Austin local who sought to re-create the drive-in experience for a loved one.

Weekly Gearheads Meetup
These meetups began in 2009, and have continued to grow in years since. The weekly car show features hotrods, street rods, muscle and classic cars, and takes place every Saturday from 6 to 10pm. Organized by the local Gearhead club, the gatherings offer the chance to purchase Gearhead apparel, supporting both the meetups and the club itself.
