Desert Door Distillery

 

America’s only stool distillery is located right here in Texas, processing the hearty desert stool plant which grows only in Northern Mexico and the Lone Star State. Visitors to Desert Door can sample spirits in the stylish Tasting Room, before filling up on nourishing farm-to-table cuisine from the nearby Eden West food truck. Desert Door also features a family-friendly outdoor patio, with games and live music performances.

 

Desert Door Distillery is located at 211 Darden Hill Road in Driftwood, Texas. Hours of operation are Thursdays 3:30 PM to 8 PM, Fridays and Saturdays 11:30 AM  to 8 PM, and Sundays from noon to 6 PM.

Garrison Brothers Distillery

 

Settled on a small ranch in picturesque Hye, Texas, Garrison Brothers Distillery is the state’s first and oldest whiskey distillery. Garrison is known for its Texas Straight Bourbon Whiskey, produced with organic winter wheat grown and processed daily onsite, combined with rich yellow corn raised in the Texas Panhandle. The distillery offers 1-2 hour tours known as “Sit-N-Sip, allowing visitors to sample high-proof “white dog” along with additional limited-time releases.

 

Garrison Brothers Distillery is located at 1827 Hye-Albert Road in Hye, Texas. Hours are 10 AM to 4 PM on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, and 11 AM to 6 PM Thursdays through Saturdays.

Still Austin Whiskey Company

 

Still Austin Whiskey Company stands apart from the rest of today’s list by its distinction as the very first whiskey distillery to be established within Austin, since before the Prohibition Era. Still Austin prides itself on operating as a grain-to-glass distillery, completing everything from mashing to barreling to bottling right on site.

 

Visitors can tour the distillery to discover how whiskey is made, before sampling the product in the relaxing whiskey garden. For a quick bite to eat, guests can partake in the company’s food truck partner The Bearded Baking Company, which serves a variety of sandwiches and sweet treats.

Revolution Spirits

 

For an experimental boutique experience, look no further than Revolution Spirits: a craft distillery specializing in small batches of liqueurs and gin. Revolution’s signature spirit is the American-style Austin Reserve Gin, consisting of juniper, lemongrass and flavorful Texas grapefruit.

 

Guests can enjoy tastings and cocktails in the tasting room Thursdays through Sundays, with more detailed tours of the production facilities available upon request.

Texas Sake Company

 

Founded in 2011, Texas Sake Company is the only sake distillery in the Lone Star State, and one of only twenty nationwide. The sake is made using high-quality ingredients, such as premium Calrose rice, classic sake yeast, and filtered Austin water.

 

Tours are held during taproom hours Thursdays through Sundays, where visitors can sample sake by the glass, or mixed into a cocktail at the Japanese-style bar. Tours include the chance to chat with resident master brewer, Toji.

 

Texas Sake Company is located at 44o East St. Elmo Road, STE B-2 in Austin, Texas. Operating hours are 4 PM to 9 PM on Thursdays, 1 PM to 9 PM on Saturdays, and 12 PM to 5 PM on  Sundays.
