The hills of Central Texas come alive once a year with the Old Settler’s Music Festival: a unique and whimsical celebration spanning 145 acres of scenic tree-spotted campgrounds and meadows. Set to take place Thursday, October 21st through Sunday, October 24th, Old Settler’s is returning to in-person operations this year for a weekend of phenomenal artists and cozy camping experiences.

The festival merges the charm of camping with modern comforts and amenities, featuring campground electric hookups for the first time this season. Campers can enjoy access to a variety of 30, 50 and 110 amp connections, powered exclusively by wind energy as part of the festival’s goal to adhere to sustainable initiatives.

The weekend kicks off Thursday at 4:20pm at the Campground Stage, with performances from Cari Hutson & Good Company, Will Taylor and Strings Attached, Della Mae, The Peterson Brothers and Steve Poltz. Additional musical guests for the weekend include the likes of Cold Spring Union, Jade Bird, Bonnie Bishop and Logan Ledger.

Highlights of the program include the Youth Talent Competition: offering exposure and opportunity to a new generation of American musicians with a front-and-center competition between nine young finalists. Competitors must prepare a two-song performance set consisting of one cover, and one original number with a combined maximum set time of ten minutes. Genre should fall into the American roots tradition, including bluegrass, country, blues, gospel and traditional styles. Only acoustic instruments are permitted in the Youth Talent competition, no amplifiers, drum sets or electronics are permitted. The first place winner receives a cash prize of $250, a 45-minute showcase spot at the following year’s event, professional feedback and more. Entry is free, and all participants must be accompanied by an adult.

Tickets are on sale now, offered in a variety of packages from individual single-day passes to the all-inclusive VIP admission. Children twelve and under may attend for free when accompanied by a ticket-holding adult. Tickets purchased for the cancelled 2020 season will be honored in 2021, and tickets may be accessed/purchased via the online e-portal, Eventbrite.
